I spoke with Terry at Smokey Mountain Accommodations
Reservations Coordinator. Terry said there are still condos available
at "The Summit" if anyone is in need of a place to stay. Most of
those who have already committed to attending have made their
reservations and secured a place to stay. However, if you need
assistance you can contact Terry toll free at 1 800 231-2230.
Activities will kick off Thursday evening, October 23, with
the classmates and friends gathering for an "Informal" dinner at a
local eating establishment. Friday morning there will be Golf for
those interested (Jimmy Simmons needs to hear from you if you have
not yet signed up). Small Group Tours and visits to sites in the
Gatlinburg area on Friday are also anticipated. Be sure to bring
some hiking shoes and comfortable clothing. For the young at heart,
swimming is available at the summit!
Friday evening we are planning another "Casual" evening out
at a little "More Upscale Restaurant" but still keeping it
informal. We will return to the Recreation Center at The Summit
afterwards for more social visiting.
Saturday will be another fun day as shopping and sight
seeing tours in the area will be available for folks to get out and
enjoy the beauty of Western Tennessee and the area around
Gatlinburg. (Golfing on Saturday is an "option" if there are
enough people interested). Saturday evening, we will gather for a
"covered dish supper" at the Recreation Center at "The Summit" and
continue our "bonding" activities with good friends and classmates!
Everyone will be encouraged to bring something to eat for this
activity. "50's" music will be provided for your listening
enjoyment!
Note:
Back in March and April when we started planning this Mini
Reunion, many of you were not sure if you would be able to get away
for a few days of fun! Now that October is here and Fall is in the
air, you may have a better handle on your Fall plans and can possibly
made the trip over to Gatlinburg for a few days. The weather is
cooling down and the leaves (I am being told) are going to be very
colorful this year. With this thought in mind, we want to extend
"another invitation" for you to join us!
I can not think of anything that can be more fun in October
than spending time with good friends and classmates from times past.
We'll leave a light on for you...
If you have any questions, please let me hear from you.
Best regards,
George Brown
